Manufacturing Engineer

Location:

Cheshire, CT — Regular Full-Time

Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer will perform general engineering tasks to optimize facility processing through process development and verification. The role analyzes process flow, develops performance enhancements, and monitors production results in an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions
  • Create and/or improve systems that optimize the efficiency of material flow throughout the facility.
  • Develop efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes and the sequence of production operations from blueprints, quality documents, and purchase orders.
  • Coordinate production processes by creating operation sheets and providing all manufacturing-related information.
  • Create material process requisitions with technical data requirements for special manufacturing processes.
  • Develop effective solutions to production and quality problems related to material, production processes, and tools.
  • Manage products and process engineering activities during development from raw material to finished product.
  • Research and develop process sheets with proper work instructions for operators, inspectors, and shipping.
  • Act as a liaison for shop process development, integrating with management, shop personnel, purchasing, production control, vendors, and customers to maximize productivity.
  • Implement all engineering changes from the customer to process sheets, programs, etc.
  • Interact with internal functions to provide manufacturing engineering support for production.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Initiate and lead optimization projects to improve quality, reduce costs, and shorten cycle time.
  • Build trust with customers to resolve engineering, manufacturing, and quality issues.
  • Perform other related duties or responsibilities as required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work with ITAR data without restrictions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing engineering experience; aerospace experience preferred.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English at a functional level.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings.
  • Ability to work with CAD systems such as Solid Works, NX 7.5 and above to generate work instructions/process sheets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to travel 5-10% when required.
  • Knowledge/experience in machining of nickel and titanium-based alloys (e.g., milling, turning, broaching, and special processes) preferred.
