THE ROLE
A Senior Strategist at Rebellion should be able to walk into a new brand, category, audience, or business problem, get smart quickly, separate signal from noise, and help the team decide what matters next. The work is broad by design. One day that may mean positioning a brand. The next it may mean mapping a communications ecosystem, building a content or social strategy, shaping a campaign brief, interpreting research, defining an audience, or helping a client figure out what problem they are actually trying to solve.
You’re not expected to be the narrow specialist in every discipline. You’re expected to understand how the pieces connect, ask better questions, bring a strong point of view, and make each discipline smarter. Your job is to turn understanding of people, markets, culture, business, and behavior into strategy that teams can actually use.
The goal is not strategy for strategy’s sake. The goal is clearer decisions, stronger ideas, more coherent experiences, and better marketing.
CORE PURPOSE- Create clarity when the brief, business problem, audience, or path forward is still fuzzy.
- Bring the customer, audience, culture, category, and competitive context into the room — not as decoration, but as evidence that changes the work.
- Translate research and information into a useful strategic interpretation: what is happening, why it matters, and what we should do about it.
- Connect business strategy, brand, communications, content, social, creative, media, and experience so the work feels intentional rather than assembled.
- Give clients and internal teams a direction they can understand, challenge, build from, and measure.
- Learn a client’s business model, goals, category, market dynamics, competitors, customer realities, and internal pressures quickly.
- Build a grounded understanding of audiences: motivations, behaviors, needs, barriers, perceptions, influences, culture, and context.
- Interrogate research, data, stakeholder input, social signals, trend reports, and existing assumptions. Separate what is proven from what is directional or inferred.
- Spot contradictions, tensions, patterns, unanswered questions, and opportunities that can unlock better decisions.
- Stay connected to shifts in culture, media, platforms, technology, language, and behavior that may change how a brand should show up.
- Develop brand strategy, including positioning, purpose, value propositions, audience definition, brand architecture, messaging foundations, and experience principles when the project calls for it.
- Create communications plans that define what we need people to think, feel, understand, or do, and how messages, moments, channels, and touchpoints should work together.
- Develop content strategies that clarify the role of content, editorial territories, themes, formats, cadence, distribution, and the connection between ongoing content and larger brand goals.
- Shape social media strategy around audience behavior, platform roles, cultural participation, community, content systems, and measurable objectives.
- Develop campaign and creative strategy: frame the problem, identify the audience and insight, define the strategic proposition, and build briefs that give teams a useful springboard rather than a box.
- Create strategic roadmaps, journeys, frameworks, and decision systems when they help turn ambiguity into movement.
- Write briefs and strategic direction that creative, account, content, media, PR, production, development, and other…
