Position Summary
Supervise IV and equipment management technicians while ensuring the continuation of pharmacy management’s goals and objectives within the dispensing pharmacy. Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and sterile compounding guidelines, maintain IV documentation, and perform clinical monitoring of infusion therapy.
Responsibilities- Maintain all required IV documentation and clinical monitoring.
- Fully assess new patients and new orders for appropriateness of therapy, high-risk medications, allergies, adverse indications or interactions, and other potentially adverse outcomes.
- Conduct thorough knowledge of prescriber/facility notification processes for drug interaction, allergy, and other adverse patient safety situations.
- Perform accurate dose calculations based on medication, patient condition, volume, and administration rates.
- Program infusion pumps and provide consistent, ongoing clinical monitoring of all infusion patients.
- Report medication occurrences and follow reporting processes.
- Understand Omnicare Long‑Term Care Pharmacy/Home Infusion Pharmacy policies and procedures, and knowledge of other facility infusion therapy manuals as applicable.
- Process IV orders when technical support is unavailable.
- Coordinate care with home health agencies, nursing facilities, physicians, and the IV nurse consultant.
- Answer drug‑related questions regarding IV therapy in a timely manner.
- Communicate with facility consultant pharmacists and clinical staff pharmacists about IV patient management.
- Orient and assess competency for pharmacists rotating from oral pharmacy to IV pharmacy and for all IV technicians and infusion pump technicians, ensuring completion of the approved Omnicare Infusion Training Program.
- Maintain knowledge of current infusion devices, products, and supplies.
- Oversee cleanroom monitoring and pump maintenance.
- Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA.
- Perform other duties as assigned; cover other areas of the pharmacy workflow as needed.
- BS degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.
D. from an accredited School of Pharmacy. - Current license to practice pharmacy in good standing.
- At least 3 years of infusion therapy experience, including clinical management of patients.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently to plan, develop, and coordinate pharmacy activities.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex topics using reasoning abilities to apply advanced mathematical concepts and draw valid conclusions.
- At least two (2) years of long‑term care experience.
- Immunization certification or willingness to become certified.
Full‑time, Monday‑Friday between 7:30am and 4:00pm. Weekend rotation every other week with limited on‑call requirement.
Pay RangeTypical hourly rate: $55.53 – $93.08. Base salary is determined by experience, education, geography, and other factors.
