Brightpoint Community College is a two‑year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area and serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian, online, and in locations throughout its service area. GeneralInformation
The Division of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences augments full‑time teaching faculty with qualified part‑time instructors to enhance the student learning process. Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester, as per Virginia Community Colleges system limits.
ResponsibilitiesProvide primarily on‑campus, traditional delivery on the Chester and Midlothian campuses, with limited opportunities for online instruction. Courses offered include American National Politics and International Relations I.
Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
QualificationsMinimum of a master’s degree in the discipline or a master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in Political Science.
Additional ConsiderationsPrior teaching experience at the post‑secondary level, ability to use instructional technologies, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
