Brightpoint Community College invites applications for a qualified, industry‑experienced Hospitality Program Director/Faculty member to provide high‑quality instruction in hospitality management, lodging, tourism, and related coursework. This is a grant‑funded/restricted 12‑month, full‑time faculty position with instructional responsibilities equivalent to 15‑credit hours per semester in the fall and spring, and a minimum of six credit hours during the summer. Teaching assignments may include a range of face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online courses (synchronous and asynchronous), offered during day, evening, and weekend hours at either the Midlothian or Chester campus, and some weekends if necessary.
In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will actively contribute to hospitality program leadership, curriculum development, assessment, student advising, and service on division, college, and external committees. Faculty are also expected to engage with local hospitality employers, tourism partners, and workforce stakeholders to ensure programs remain aligned with industry needs and that students graduate with the skills required for immediate employment and career advancement.
Responsibilities- Teach, train, and mentor students in academic, apprenticeship, and workforce development settings using effective andragogical practices.
- Support student advising, retention, academic success, and career pathway development.
- Develop and maintain syllabi, instructional materials, learning activities, and assessments aligned with program and workforce needs.
- Design and deliver high quality instruction using innovative teaching techniques and applied learning strategies.
- Support and coordinate internships, apprenticeships, and other work‑based learning experiences.
- Support student recruitment, outreach, and community engagement efforts.
- Prepare students for industry recognized credentials, certifications, and career readiness outcomes.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and applicable regulatory and compliance standards where applicable.
- Participate in college service, including committees, program initiatives, and institutional priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide leadership, oversight, and accountability for all aspects of program operations, including adjunct faculty supervision, curriculum, budget, accreditation, and student outcomes.
- Lead the development and launch of this new program, which will require significant oversight, coordination, and continuous monitoring to ensure successful implementation and alignment with workforce demand.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate adjunct faculty, including hiring, onboarding, and workload management.
- Oversee scheduling, course offerings, and instructional delivery to ensure efficiency and quality.
- Lead accreditation, compliance, and program review processes; ensure alignment with state, system, and industry standards.
- Establish and lead an active advisory board to validate curriculum, identify skill gaps, and guide program direction.
