Brightpoint Community College, a two‑year public institution in the Greater Richmond area, seeks a highly motivated Military and Veterans Education Counselor to support students in accessing military and veteran benefits.

• Collaborate with multiple offices to ensure a smooth matriculation process for all students using military and/or veteran benefits.
• Assist students and their families in obtaining all appropriate military benefits.
• Receive requests for certifications, process requests within the established timeframe, document all transactions, and upload documents in the document imaging system.
• Conduct internal audits every semester.
• Assist in the resolution of VA education benefit payment discrepancies and provide academic advising services as necessary.
• Participate in outreach events.
• Answer phone calls and emails daily.
• May be required to perform additional duties as assigned and assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

• Must possess the ability to provide service to a diverse population of customers.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality while working with highly sensitive information.
• Must be able to prioritize work and meet defined deadlines.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, occasional weekends, and teleworking if required.
• Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Proficiency in the use of People Soft, EAB Navigate, Microsoft Office, Teams, and Google Suite.
• Prior experience at a college or university is preferred.
