Overview

Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is one of the largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within VCCS.

Seeking instructors for on-campus (in-person) courses only.

• Provide traditional delivery instruction on either the Chester or Midlothian campus of the college.
• Deliver courses in General Chemistry I & II, Introductory Chemistry, Survey of Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry.
• Ensure successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.

• Minimum of a master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the specific discipline.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
• Ability to use instructional technologies.

Background check:
Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check (fingerprint checks, local agency checks, employment verification, verification of education, credit checks). Additionally, may be required to complete the Commonwealth’s Statement of Economic Interest.
