We are looking for a senior‑level manufacturing engineer responsible for coordinating or directly working on improving manufacturing processes in a highly automated glass process line, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity methods to actively contribute to achieving key performance indicators and company goals.
Responsibilities- Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes in industrial plant by developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety.
- Serve as technical expert for all matters related to glass manufacturing processes, such as glass thermal tempering, paint coating, silk‑screen printing, glass lamination, etc.
- Act as technical advisor for glass equipment and technology, providing support during equipment installation, recipe set‑up, and associates’ training, and consulting with the technical team on troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
- Provide design input to the New Product Development (NPD) and Design to Value (DTV) engineering teams to ensure optimal manufacturability for glass products.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout, and establishing and implementing Design For Manufacture (DFM) plans.
- Evaluate capital equipment investments, coordinate obtaining quotes, prepare cost justifications, and manage overall implementation and success of capital equipment projects.
- Conduct a make vs. buy analysis of components of the existing product.
- Coordinate implementation of projects by monitoring and assigning daily tasks and schedules to 3rd party technical service companies, automation companies, and internal project members.
- Four (4) year degree required; a degree in an engineering discipline preferred.
- Five (5) years of experience in glass manufacturing processes, glass thermal tempering process, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Three (3) years of engineering experience implementing or optimizing high‑automation processes.
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Experienced in glass manufacturing processes: cutting, seaming, thermal tempering, silk‑screen printing, and paint coating.
- Experienced in troubleshooting glass automation equipment, HMI, and recipe creation.
- Ability to build trust and interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to identify opportunities to improve complex manufacturing systems.
- Coordinate and support new product introduction and department expansions.
- Present technical information.
- Experience with 2D CAD (3D is a plus).
- Provide accurate and timely project progress and results tracking.
- Lead advanced problem‑solving teams as assigned.
