Job Summary

The position will be stationed at Chesterfield Power Station and will primarily support Chesterfield Power Station operations, with additional chemistry and technical support provided to Clover Power Station as needed.

Provides advanced technical and analytical chemistry support to power station and company personnel for water, fuel, chemical, and environmental samples. Serves as a subject‑matter resource for interpreting chemistry data, identifying adverse trends, and recommending corrective actions to support plant reliability, regulatory compliance, and operational performance. Reviews, evaluates, and trends chemistry, corrosion, and environmental data to assess system health and identify emerging issues.

Apply sound technical judgment to distinguish normal process variability from conditions requiring investigation or action. Develops, implements, and maintains station or company chemistry programs to meet operational objectives and regulatory requirements. Evaluates, selects, and improves laboratory methods, techniques, and analytical instrumentation. Performs calibration, validation, and troubleshooting of advanced laboratory and online analytical equipment. Maintains chemistry databases, ensures data quality and integrity, and supports laboratory quality control programs, audits, and regulatory inspections.

Provides technical guidance, training, and mentoring to lower‑level staff and plant personnel. Prepares clear technical reports and data visualizations for management, translating complex chemistry results into actionable insights. Conducts special projects, studies, or investigations in support of station management and chemistry program continuous improvement.

Skills, Experience, and Knowledge
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
    , preferably in power generation, industrial chemistry, or a regulated environment
  • In‑depth knowledge of analytical chemistry principles, laboratory concepts, and laboratory techniques
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations applicable to power station operations
  • Demonstrated ability to independently review, interpret, and trend chemistry and corrosion data
  • Proven skills in troubleshooting analytical instrumentation, sampling systems, and chemistry‑related process issues
  • Experience performing calibration, and performance verification of laboratory and online analytical equipment
  • Strong computer skills, including data analysis, databases, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise technical reports and written documentation
  • Strong analytical, deductive reasoning, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to conduct effective site inspections and plant walkdowns
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work directly with operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, guidance, and informal mentoring within a team environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ownership of chemistry programs, data quality, and follow‑up actions
  • Comfort working in industrial plant environments and interacting directly with operations staff
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity in a regulated environment
  • Willingness to support emergent issues, special projects, or off‑hours consultation as needed
