Senior High Voltage / Low Voltage Electrical Specialist

Boden Talent is partnering with our client to appoint an experienced High Voltage / Low Voltage Electrical Specialist to join a mission-critical engineering team supporting one of the world's most advanced operational environments.

This is not a traditional maintenance electrician role. Instead, you'll act as the technical authority for electrical operations, providing leadership, operational guidance, and strategic support across complex high and low voltage infrastructure. You'll play a key role in improving system resilience, developing engineering standards, mentoring teams, and ensuring critical electrical systems operate safely and reliably.

Working within a highly technical environment, you'll support the safe operation of complex electrical distribution systems while helping shape operational procedures, commissioning activities, and future infrastructure improvements. You'll collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure best practice is consistently applied across all electrical systems.

This position would suit someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, developing others, and influencing how critical electrical infrastructure is operated and maintained.

• Act as the technical subject matter expert across high and low voltage electrical systems.
• Interpret complex electrical schematics, protection drawings, and single-line diagrams.
• Develop detailed switching schedules and safety programs to safely manage electrical system configuration changes.
Produce and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
• Lead and coordinate complex electrical shutdowns and planned outages.
• Attend factory acceptance tests (FAT), commissioning activities, and site acceptance testing, identifying and documenting system issues through to resolution.
• Provide technical guidance on electrical projects, reviewing designs and recommending improvements to reliability, resilience, and operational performance.
• Deliver scenario-based operational training and emergency response exercises.
• Mentor, coach, and develop engineers to improve technical capability across the team.
• Support operational teams during critical events, providing hands‑on technical leadership whenever required.
• Promote a strong culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

• Extensive experience working on complex High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical distribution systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical protection systems, switching operations, and safe isolation procedures.
• Proven ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
• Experience developing switching procedures, operational documentation, and technical standards.
• Previous involvement in planning and managing major electrical shutdowns.
• Knowledge of SCADA or Building Management Systems (BMS) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, and NFPA 70E standards.
• Experience supporting commissioning activities and identifying electrical system deficiencies.
• Ability to influence electrical design decisions by providing technical recommendations and resilience improvements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and engineering documentation software.
• Natural leadership qualities with experience mentoring and developing technical teams.
• A collaborative mindset with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders, contractors, and engineering teams.
