Job Title:
Team Lead – Glass
South Chesterfield, VA
We are looking for a Team Lead who will be responsible for leading a team in a specific area of Operations, coordinating department activities and driving performance improvements.
Responsibilities- Lead and direct manufacturing teams
- Implement Safety-Quality-Delivery-Cost (SQDC) and Lean principles
- Conduct daily huddle meetings focused on area performance
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Standard Work, Built-in Quality, Small lot presentation to the line)
- Interpret and enforce company policies and safety regulations
- Recommend and implement improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and quality
- Lead problem‑solving teams and use PDCA to resolve work issues
- Perform backup activities for line workers as needed
- Maintain efficiency levels to achieve the Annual Operating Plan
- Prepare and execute daily start‑up plans
- Update and maintain the cross‑functional training matrix
- Ensure hourly performance boards and variance causes are maintained and displayed
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering for on‑time delivery through Kaizen processes
- Lead daily Kaizen activities and documentation
- Schedule continuous load and coordinate material scheduling and kitting to avoid shortages
- Maintain 6S practices and operator PM checklists
- Serve as absenteeism representative
- Sustain Standard Work and Visual Boards/Controls
- Maintain 90%+ efficiency target
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED
- Over 3 years of related experience
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook; AS400 or similar system knowledge)
- 2+ years of manufacturing experience
- AS400 experience
- Lift, pull, push 50 lbs up to 50% of the shift
- Stand, walk, bend, twist for prolonged periods up to 10 hours/day
- Perform repetitive motions on the machine up to 40% of the shift
- Flexibility, mechanical aptitude, quick learning, problem‑solving
- Prioritization, detail orientation, time management, interpersonal, organizational
- Leadership traits, safety‑first orientation, high performer, multitasking ability
- Analytical reasoning, tape measure reading, strong communication, understanding of 6S
- Ability to reach, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, see and hear
- Adaptability to fast‑paced, complex environment and team orientation
