Job Title
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inspection & Maintenance- Perform scheduled inspections of overhead cranes, monorails, hoists, jib cranes, and related lifting equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and customer requirements.
- Identify worn, damaged, or unsafe components and recommend corrective actions.
- Complete OSHA and ASME required inspections and documentation.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural issues.
- Repair and replace motors, brakes, gearboxes, contractors, relays, limit switches, controls, VFDs, wire rope, chains, hooks, and other crane components.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems including single-phase and three-phase power systems.
- Perform emergency service calls and equipment repairs to minimize customer downtime.
- Assist with crane and hoist installations, upgrades, and modernization projects.
- Install and wire electrical controls, festoon systems, pendant controls, and radio remote systems.
- Perform load testing and operational verification following installations and repairs.
- Complete detailed service reports and inspection records.
- Communicate findings, repair recommendations, and project updates to customers and management.
- Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and equipment used.
- Follow all OSHA, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout (LOTO), fall protection, and company safety procedures.
- Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA) before beginning work.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Properly use all required PPE.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in crane, hoist, industrial maintenance, electrical, or related technical field.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Electrical schematics
- Mechanical drawings
- Wiring diagrams
- Equipment manuals
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Able to work independently and manage service schedules effectively.
- Experience with overhead cranes, wire rope hoists, chain hoists, and material handling equipment.
- Industrial maintenance, millwright, electrician, or controls experience.
- NCCCO Crane Inspector Certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
- NFPA 70E Training.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Knowledge of ASME B30 standards and CMAA specifications.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated work platforms.
- Comfortable working at heights of up to 100 feet or more with proper fall protection.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
