Starting salary for new teachers 2026-27: $59,000 annually
An additional part of Duneland's application process will be for every new applicant to complete a candidate assessment. SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provide instruction in all aspects of the construction pathway. Assist students in enhancing their skills in the areas necessary to seek employment in the construction industry. Integrate the instruction of basic skills into the career and technical curriculum, as well as teach employability skills such as working with others, good attendance, and a positive work ethic. Prepare students for entry-level employment in the construction industry or for post-secondary study.
Assist students to be successful in vocational education by monitoring their technical, basic skills, and placement records. Assist students in developing their career education plans, and instruct students in resume writing and interview skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a valid Indiana Workplace Specialist license or be eligible for a Workplace Specialist license based upon 3-5 years of work experience in the construction industry
- Experience with the construction industry, including but not limited to:
- Basic Components of Construction
- Real-world experience with rough framing, finish carpentry
- Basic concepts of electrical work, plumbing, mechanical systems, and masonry
- Basic concepts of construction layout, site preparation, and building envelope
- Possess a CDL license or have the ability to attain one.
- Enthusiasm for Career and Technical Education
- Ability to supervise the "lab environment."
- Outstanding communication skills
- Experience assisting students to make viable, realistic career decisions.
- Professional organizational skills
- Have verifiable work experience outside of education
- Proof of competency, such as a current or previous contractor's license or industry-recognized certifications
- Have the ability to improve and enhance the construction program based on industry standards
- Ability to develop partnerships with area employers and trades unions
- Have a good driving record
- Have a clean criminal history background
- Experience in vocational education or technical training preferred
- Extensive knowledge about careers in the construction industry
- Be computer literate
- Willing to participate in continuing professional development
- Ability to work with all stakeholders and business partners in the development of the program
