SUMMARY OF POSITION
This position is a High School Choral Accompanist. Under the direction of the choral music teacher, this position will accompany on piano the school choirs during classroom rehearsals, after‑school rehearsals, and evening concerts. This position will work closely with the choral music teacher to help students prepare, rehearse, and perform a wide variety of choral literature.
Starting Hourly Rate
: $20.25
- Accompanies the school choirs during classroom rehearsals.
- Accompanies at after‑school rehearsals, showchoir competitions, ISSMA performances, and evening concerts.
- Collaborates effectively and efficiently with the choral music teacher.
- Establishes positive relationships with students, parents, and other staff.
- Demonstrate skill in a wide variety of musical styles.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills necessary to deal tactfully and effectively with persons at all levels in order to develop and maintain productive relationships with all publics.
- Work cooperatively with teachers, students, and staff.
- Ability to sight‑read music, learn new skills quickly and assimilate into daily work.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality both inside and outside the corporation.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to multi‑task with attention to detail.
- Ability to learn classroom procedures and expectations and apply them consistently.
- Demonstrate organizational and time‑management skills.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is protected from outside weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. There are no environmental hazards indicated for this position.
Equipment:
This position requires a working knowledge of classroom equipment, including computers, printers, telephone systems, fax machines and copiers.
Hours:
Hours will vary upon the need of the choral director. The position is typically expected to work an average of 5 hours or less per day, 4–5 days per week, no more than 180 days per year. Hours/days may be adjusted as directed by the supervisor to provide adequate coverage. Weeks prior to a concert will consistently be 5 days a week.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
