SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The primary responsibility for the Instructional Assistant is direct involvement with students with unique needs in the school setting. Job duties include supporting students in the classroom and throughout the school building, assisting with functional and self‑management skills, and interacting professionally, friendly, and organized with parents, students, and staff.
Starting Salary: $17/hr
Minimum Qualifications
- Must meet all Indiana requirements as a highly qualified Instructional Assistant.
- Two years of college or the equivalent are required.
- Teaching license and/or educational training and experience preferred.

Work Environment:
The work environment is moderate in noise, protected from outside weather but not temperature changes. No specific environmental hazards are indicated.
Equipment:
Maintain a working knowledge of classroom equipment, including computers, printers, telephone systems, fax machines, and copiers.
Hours:
Typically expected to work an average of 5.75 hours or less per day, no more than 180 days per year. Hours may be adjusted by the direct supervisor.
Physical Demands:
Employee frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, handle objects, reach, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform vision tasks. Must be capable of physically assisting students with disabilities as required (positioning, lifting, transferring, restraining, etc.).
