Job Title:

Teacher

Starting salary for new teachers: $59,000 annually An additional part of Duneland's application process will be for every new applicant to complete a candidate assessment. This will give Duneland the data to understand each candidate's strengths and likelihood to impact student success, so we can make the best choice for our district's needs. Please allow yourself approximately 1 hour to complete.

Must complete at one sitting. The assessment will need to be completed in order for you to submit your application. If you have already completed the assessment within a year you may not be prompted to take it.

Provides an educational program for students in an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establishes effective rapport with students to promote positive attitudes of self-worth; motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program, in accordance with each student's ability; establishes good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Credential
    - Any valid credential issued by the State of Indiana to perform the services of a teacher in a classroom.
  • Education
    - Bachelor's degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
  • Preferred
    - Experience implementing best practices/strategies when teaching EL students
  • Preferred
    - Will take on an extra curricular activity. (ECA positions come with a stipend and will be in addition to the base salary)
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
  • Follow the criteria established in the Duneland School Corporation Evaluation Plan
  • Provide learning experiences utilizing course of study mandated by the Duneland School Corporation
  • Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills and other general elements of the course of study specified in state law, administrative regulations, or set by the Duneland School Corporation
  • Plan, organize, and implement differentiated lessons to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Establish and implement clear objectives for each lesson
  • Engage students in meaningful activities to assure student mastery of content
  • Apply Depth of Knowledge strands in instructional strategies
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student performance
  • Enter student grades in student information system weekly
  • Confer with parents and colleagues to address student academic and behavioral needs
  • Establish and implement classroom rules and procedures to provide an environment conducive to learning
  • Administer assessments as required by the state of Indiana and the corporation
  • Interact with colleagues, parents, and students in a manner that is professional and reflect the expectations of leadership within the school and corporation
  • Follow all expectations described in the Duneland School Corporation's Teacher Agreement and employee handbook
  • Follow all procedures and expectations established by the building principal and/or corporation leadership
  • Monitor and supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day
  • Share in the sponsorship of grade level activities and participate in faculty committees
  • May plan and coordinate the work of aides, teacher assistants and other paraprofessionals working in that grade level area
