SUMMARY OF POSITION
The primary responsibility for the Title I Paraprofessional is direct involvement with students in the instructional setting. Services rendered by the instructional assistant shall be delivered in close proximity to the classroom teacher and under direct supervision of the classroom teacher. Title I Paraprofessional shall work with Title I identified students as determined by approved selection criteria. This position requires the person to be very flexible in accepting assigned tasks by their supervisor with a strong sense of teamwork needed.
This position will deal with community members, parents, students and staff on a regular basis and will be expected to interact with these publics in a professional, friendly, and organized manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet all Indiana requirements as highly qualified. Two years of college or the equivalent is required in order to provide instruction to a student. A teaching license and/or educational training and experience is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide direct instruction to students with supervision of teacherConduct instructional activities assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning conceptsA basic understanding of all Duneland curriculum at the assigned grade levelDocument student data when directedAttend meetings and maintain student data when directedAssist in classroom managementAssist with the administration and scoring of student assessmentsAssist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipmentAssist teacher with administrative records and preparation of required reportsFunction as an appropriate role model for children, providing proper examples, emotional support, and a friendly attitude and general guidanceRespond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving student safety concerns and reporting those concerns to direct supervisorAssist in the supervision of students throughout school dayKeep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual studentsAttend after school functions when directed by principalComplete other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the building administrator or administrator designeeKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is protected from outside weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. There are no environmental hazards indicated for this position.
Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of all classroom equipment. A basic knowledge of operations for computers, printers, telephone systems, fax machines and copiers is required.
