Data Center Construction QA / QC Manager - Chesterton, IN

This opportunity is with an established general contractor that specializes in converting existing buildings into complex data center projects. The role focuses on monitoring quality and commissioning processes for critical facility construction, providing a career‑growth environment with leading‑edge technology and innovation.

The QA/QC Manager will coordinate between engineering and construction teams to drive the commissioning process, manage scheduling, report status to senior leadership, and oversee the installation and commissioning of key infrastructure systems.

Responsibilities
  • Perform periodic site walk‑throughs to ensure company procedures and standards are followed, including assistance to support staff and contracted vendors.
  • Manage and perform Level 1‑3 commissioning procedures for the data center project.
  • Communicate the status of operational processes with senior management.
  • Conduct site acceptance and commissioning to ensure the facility meets company standards.
  • Assist in developing procedures and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for the DC build and approve MOPs for data hall work.
  • Supervise on‑site management of the facility manager, facility technicians, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring all commissioning is performed as per established practices.
  • Serve as the client relationship liaison and escalation point for site issues.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on critical facility operations and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Review MOPs and SOPs for all work on critical data center facility equipment.
  • Maintain readiness to support the mission goal of 99.999 % uptime.
  • Analyze and report on critical facilities Operations and Maintenance (O&M) programs.
  • Design Critical Environment Programs for internal and external clients.
  • Coordinate with design and construction teams.
  • Recommend and implement industry best practices into new and existing Critical Environment Programs.
  • Develop process documentation and training materials.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; military experience a plus.
  • Certification as a commissioning professional (BCxP, CxA, CCP, etc.) a plus.
  • NETA/NICET certification a plus.
  • Journeyman or Master’s license in MEP a plus.
  • 5‑10+ years of data center facility construction and commissioning experience.
  • Experience on projects 5 MW or larger a plus.
  • 3‑5 years of quality assurance/quality control, commissioning, MEP coordination, or related experience.
  • Experience working with a general contractor or third‑party commissioning company a huge plus.
  • Strong understanding of critical electrical power systems and mechanical/HVAC equipment in a data center environment.
  • Previous experience in the military, including electrical/mechanical roles in Navy, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, etc., a huge plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience with BIM 360, ACC, CxAlloy, or end‑user ACMS as necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with good presentation ability.
  • Superior analytical, planning, and problem‑resolution skills.
  • Highly organized with proven project management abilities; self‑motivated.
  • Strong organizational and detail‑oriented skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Open to travel Monday–Friday with weekends at home; limited travel if near a project.
