Jr. Diesel Technician
The Jr Diesel Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The Jr. Diesel Technician will perform routine checks and repairs to ensure reliability, safety and performance while minimizing downtime and costly repairs. The Jr. Diesel Technician works closely with other team members to maintain a high level of vehicle performance and customer satisfaction. The Jr.
Diesel Technician reports directly to the General Manager.
Jr. Diesel Technician duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Changing oil and oil filters regularly based on manufacturer's recommendations or hours of operations
- Replace fuel filters to ensure proper fuel flow and prevent contaminants from clogging the injectors
- Inspect and replace air filters as needed to reduce clogging for efficiency and power output
- Top off and flush coolant levels to maintain proper cooling
- Regularly drain any water from the fuel water separator to ensure the fuel injectors are clean and functioning properly
- Use a fuel additive to clean injectors and protect the system from corrosion
- Check and change transmission fluid and differential fluid at recommended intervals to avoid ware and tare
- Inspect brake pads, rotors and drums for wear along with brake fluid levels
- Check all belts and hoses for cracks, wear or tension issues
Experience/
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience with diesel engines and tanker trailer repair
- Familiarity with diesel maintenance and repairs
- Valid driver's license and insurable
Hours:
The Jr. Diesel Technician is a full time position and works up to 40 hours per week
Salary/Income:
The Jr. Diesel Technician is a non-exempt, hourly position
