MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOBA Registered Nurse Manager Medical is the managerial level of work planning and coordinating the provision of nursing care for all shifts within a Residential Intermediate Care Facility for the treatment of Substance Use Disorders. This position directly supervises all RNs and LPNs. This includes supervising Registered Nurse Supervisors and Registered Nurse Charges and through them indirectly supervises subordinate staff positions considered a part of the nursing care team.
This position is also responsible for supervising and coordinating nursing care services provided at a 40+ bed facility. This is a professional service level position that provides supervision and directs the work of a diversified team, monitors the utilization of best practice treatment modalities and that quality standards of care are given. In addition, responsibilities include compliance with AF Whitsitt Center policies & procedures, COMAR regulations, CARF accreditation standards and as assigned, program oversight for grant funded services.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years in the Medical option and one year in a supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity.

- 1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the Medical option for the required education and experience.
- 2. Candidates may substitute six years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include three years in a supervisory, administrative or teaching capacity in the Medical option for the required education and experience.
- 3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
- Experience working with substance use disorders.
- Experience managing teams of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nurse Assistants.
- 1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in primary states of residence declared by the candidate.
- 2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
