Commercial AG Sprayer / Spreader Field Technician

Chestertown, Maryland, U.S.

Purpose

Independently performs diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer‑owned agricultural equipment with emphasis on sprayers and application equipment. Candidates require a strong work ethic to complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision. Communication skills are required to clearly articulate aspects of work to a customer in a courteous manner. This is an excellent opportunity for a self‑motivated individual interested in working for an established dealership.

Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on agricultural equipment, Precision Ag products, sprayers, dry‑box units, and other application units.
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs in the field as required.
  • Document diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders, ensuring on‑time submission of information.
  • Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders.
  • Conduct and support customer clinics.
  • Mentor service technician trainees and service technicians.
  • Participate in the JDU Training program required for development of skills and knowledge.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Overnight travel may be required at times.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge
  • Preferably one year of experience performing Ag equipment service repairs.
  • Basic understanding of chemicals used in the application industry.
  • Basic knowledge of application rates and requirements.
  • Experience with basic computer functions.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform advanced repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following technical manual procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of application equipment.
  • Must have an adequate tool set to perform job responsibilities.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • DOT Medical Certification and ability to maintain as required.
Compensation

$5000 sign‑on bonus (expires 9/30/25). Pay range: $20‑$38 per hour, based on experience.
