Surgical Assistant

Seeking a Surgical Assistant responsible for supporting surgeons during procedures to ensure safety and efficiency.

• Assist with patient positioning, visualization, hemostasis, wound closure, and dressing application.
• Perform independent tasks such as vein, artery, tendon, bone, and skin harvesting, and plastic closure on specialized cases.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and team members about patient status and procedural details.
• Demonstrate leadership by motivating, mentoring, and participating in staff development activities.
• Manage workload efficiently, maintain cost-effective practices, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Assess patient positioning and environment for safety, implement contamination prevention, and report adverse events.

• Extensive anatomy and physiology knowledge, excellent eye-hand coordination, and stamina.
• 2 years of college or specialty training in surgical assisting.
• Preferred 4 years of general experience, with 2 in a specialty area.
• Certifications such as NSAA, CFA, AA-C, or CRNFA within 6 months of hire; BLS certification required.
• Membership in professional organizations preferred; specialty certification desirable.
