Project OverviewThe rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. This project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.
Job SummaryThe Civil Superintendent (UGs) is responsible for managing and executing subcontractors and direct‑hire civil construction activities, coordinating work planning and schedules, and ensuring safe, quality delivery in compliance with project requirements, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. Reporting to Lead Field Superintendent or Area Field Superintendent.
Major Responsibilities- Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.
- Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
- Develops planning construction methods and procedures.
- Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Participates with other subcontractors and external stakeholders (or subcontractors) to plan construction schedules.
- Ensures work methods planned and executed safely.
- Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
- Implements and enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
- Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
- Develops an understanding of industry and International Codes & Standards applicable to work scope.
- Utilizes and leverages applicable automation software and processes as applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or other relevant technical disciplines from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant work experience, or 9-12 years relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
- Experience in civil construction on large projects.
- Technical knowledge of earthworks, roads and drainage on infrastructure projects, including open‑cut excavation, trenching, grading and general construction work.
- Knowledge of underground commodity installation including piping, electrical ductbank, and precast commodities desirable.
- Knowledge of construction technologies.
- Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
- Familiarity with current industry quality standards.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
- Understanding of production management including scheduling.
- Previous supervisory experience within civil discipline.
