Position: Field Superintendent - Civil (Aeros)

Project Overview

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. This project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, which would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.

Job Summary

The Civil Superintendent (Aeros) is responsible for managing and executing subcontractors and direct-hire civil construction activities, coordinating work planning and schedules, and ensuring safe, quality delivery in compliance with project requirements, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. The role reports to the Lead Field Superintendent or Area Field Superintendent and may begin in the home office in Reston, VA, before relocating for a long-term assignment to Cheyenne, Wyoming, contingent upon project award.

Responsibilities
  • Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, coordinating and instructing subcontractor management staff within the area of responsibility.
  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Develops planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Creates projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements.
  • Reviews installation work packages for foremen and general foremen.
  • Collaborates with other subcontractors and external stakeholders to plan construction schedules.
  • Ensures work methods are planned and executed safely.
Safety/Quality
  • Implements Zero Accident Philosophy and ensures its adherence by craft and others in the operational area; ensures tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
  • Enforces policies, procedures, and related work rules as established by field construction management.
Technical
  • Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with subcontractors and craft professionals.
  • Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
  • Develops an understanding of industry and international codes & standards applicable to the work scope.
  • Utilizes and leverages applicable automation software and processes.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or other relevant technical disciplines from an accredited university and a minimum of 5‑8 years of relevant work experience, or 9‑12 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
  • Experience in civil construction on large projects.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Technical knowledge of earthworks, roads, and drainage on infrastructure projects, including open‑cut excavation, trenching, grading, and general construction work.
  • Experience in self‑perform concrete activities, including formwork, rebar, embed installation, and placement.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes such as ACI, CRSI, ASTM, etc.
  • Knowledge of construction technologies.
  • Knowledge of supervisory functions related to field activities.
  • Familiarity with current industry quality standards.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and a Zero Accident safety program.
  • Understanding of production management including scheduling.
  • Previous supervisory experience within the civil discipline.
  • Sound communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development.
