The successful delivery of hyperscale data centers begins long before construction starts. Accurate estimating, detailed quantity takeoffs, strategic planning, and strong collaboration between preconstruction and operations teams are critical to securing projects and positioning them for successful execution. Estimators play a key role in evaluating opportunities, developing competitive pricing, identifying risks, and helping project teams execute with confidence.

Michels Infrastructure Solutions (MIS) brings together the full capabilities of the Michels Family of Companies under a Super General Contractor (Super GC) model, providing mission-critical owners and developers with a single point of accountability for every phase of project execution. By combining self-performed specialty design, construction, and commissioning services, MIS delivers large-scale, multidisciplinary projects with greater control over safety, quality, schedule, and cost.

MIS specializes in the delivery of hyperscale data centers and mission-critical facilities, leveraging expertise across mass grading and site development, wet and dry utilities, fiber and telecommunications infrastructure, ground improvement, deep foundations, structural concrete, power infrastructure, and commissioning. Our integrated delivery approach enables customers to partner with a single-source team capable of executing some of North America's most complex and demanding infrastructure projects.

As an Estimator
, you will support preconstruction and project pursuit efforts by preparing accurate cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, bid evaluations, and pricing analyses for hyperscale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects. Working closely with operations, procurement, project management, and preconstruction teams, you will evaluate project requirements, identify project risks and opportunities, and help develop competitive proposals that position MIS for success.

This role provides exposure to all phases of project development and execution while supporting some of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects in North America.

Success requires strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.

• Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, budgets, and proposal support documents for mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, schedules, and contract requirements to fully understand project scope.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Support procurement and operations teams in developing pricing strategies and execution plans.
• Identify project risks, assumptions, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities.
• Assist with estimate reviews, bid submissions, and project turnover activities.

• Develop conceptual estimates, budget estimates, and detailed construction estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for site development, mass grading, wet utilities, dry utilities, fiber infrastructure, ground improvement, structural concrete, and power infrastructure scopes.
• Review project plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, schedules, and other bid documents.
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and scope definitions.
• Analyze labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and indirect project costs.
• Support bid reviews and estimate presentations with project leadership.
• Assist with developing project schedules, production assumptions, and execution strategies.
• Participate in constructability reviews and risk assessment discussions.
• Maintain estimating databases, cost history records, and pricing information.
• Support project handoff activities to ensure estimating assumptions and project risks are properly communicated to project teams.
