Student Monitor

$14.00 per hour (sick time, personal days & paid holidays)

5 days per week (10:15 am–1:15 pm) – 3 hours per day, 15 hours per week

Exercise student supervision in areas as assigned by the principal or assistant principal. Carry out other tasks consistent with the role of Student Monitor as assigned by the principal or assistant principal.

  • Ability to learn job guidelines and apply them daily.
  • Knowledge of school rules and basic concepts/techniques of child discipline.
  • Knowledge of the basic structure of public education.
  • Ability to get along with other aides, parents and teachers.
• Characteristics / Traits
  • Concern for children’s health, safety and learning.
  • Patience in dealing with children’s problems and behavior.
  • Willingness to take training programs the district may provide.
  • Punctuality, dependability, and work habits.
  • Good health and moral character.
  • Concern for education.
  • Discretion and good judgment.
  • Toleration for inclement weather.
• Education / Experience / Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • BCI/FBI background check required (fee $47.25).
  • Ohio Department of Education one‑year student monitor permit required ($25.00 fee, application during hiring).
  • Experience with supervision of children in public or private sector desirable.
  • Training in first aid and CPR desirable but not required.
