Job DescriptionThe PODER Academy Elementary School is looking for a passionate and dedicated full-time SPED Teacher for K-12 grade classes. The job of the SPED Teacher will include working with students in small groups and one-on-one, in and out of the classroom, as well as the case manager responsible for any and all paperwork, monitoring, and hosting IEP meetings. The position will be responsible for developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines;
collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students, parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
- Adapt classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans
- Administers developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc., for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans
- Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations of student achievements, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment
- Advise students for the purpose of improving performance, health status, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues
- Assess student progress toward objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration
- Collaborate with instructional staff, instructional groups, and other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality and achieving established classroom objectives
- Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment
- Monitors students in a variety of educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment
- Participates in the development of student IEPs measurable goals and objectives for the purpose of ensuring student access to the Curriculum, and instruction on State standards and benchmarks.
- Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and conferences for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions
- Prepares and maintains a variety of written and/or electronic materials and records to document student progress and meeting mandated requirements
- Supports classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Appropriate Wyoming Licensure
- Eligible to pass a background check
- Effective at teaching and working one-on-one and with small groups of students
- Passion and/or experience working with students grade K through 6th
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus but not a requirement
