Para educator General [PA07]
Location:
Laramie County School District 1, Bagg's Elementary School – Cheyenne, Wyoming. Starting date:
Aug 19, 2026.
Under the direction of a certified teacher, provide support to the instructional program within the assigned classroom by reinforcing curriculum with individual and/or small groups of students, monitoring student behavior, and providing clerical support to teacher(s) and staff. Supports teachers and students within general education, Title 1, ESL, and/or Gifted and Talented programs/classrooms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist students individually or in small groups to introduce and/or reinforce learning concepts, curriculum, assignments, and/or lesson plans to maximize student learning and achieve academic goals. Adapt and administer classroom activities, assignments, and assessments. Model appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner. (Daily, 60%)
- Monitor and supervise students in a variety of settings (classroom, playground, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading). Implement discipline in accordance with policies. (Daily, 10%)
- Assist in preparing, organizing, and maintaining classroom materials, equipment, and work areas. (Daily, 10%)
- Collaborate with certified teacher to evaluate student progress, recordkeeping, provide feedback, and report observations. (Daily, 10%)
- Assist other personnel as required, including enrolling students, filing paperwork, organizing rooms, etc. (Weekly, 2%)
- Respond to emergency situations such as injured student or fights. (Weekly, 2%)
- Attend meetings and in‑service training as required. (Weekly, 2%)
- Perform other duties as assigned. (Ongoing, 4%)
- High‑school diploma or equivalent.
- No experience required (preferred: experience working with school‑age children).
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- First‑Aid certification preferred.
- English language skills.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal relations skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Bilingual language skills preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability and willingness to work effectively and compassionately with students of all abilities.
- Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance expectations and district absence reporting procedures.
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Trustees policies, district policies, and building and department procedures.
- Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
- Experience with personal computers and peripherals (required within 2 months). Preferred: knowledge of office equipment such as telephones, copier, fax machine.
- Experience with office productivity programs such as Microsoft Office Suite and e‑mail (preferred).
Reports to:
Certified Teacher and Principal. This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
- None required.
- Work 8 hours/day, Monday‑Friday (9 months). Pay: $15.42 per hour, spread over 12 months. Benefits are available.
