Student Success Coach

The Student Success Coach at Laramie County Community College is a full-time, benefited position, dedicated to supporting students throughout their academic journey, from initial interest to graduation. They guide students through enrollment; help identify educational and career goals and assist with program requirements. The coach also connects students to campus resources and addresses academic challenges. They focus on building meaningful relationships through regular interactions and mentorship.

Additionally, the Student Success Coach plays a role in recruitment and promotes higher education by representing the College y collaborate with various departments, including Pathway Coordinators and faculty, to ensure students receive comprehensive support and assistance.

Principal Responsibilities and Results, KSA's

Essential Functions:

This position is exempt and is not eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.

Utilizing caseload management, the Student Success Coach will build and maintain relationships with prospective and current students by ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment throughout their academic journey.

Individualized Success Planning and Support
- Provide comprehensive guidance and support by advising, mentoring, and assisting students in program and course selection, academic planning, and resources utilization to ensure their success and retention at the college.

  • Assist students to develop an academic plan aligned with their goals and advise on course selection.
  • Guide students in exploring career options in partnership with Academic Affairs.
  • Provide comprehensive guidance on the college processes, academic programs, financial aid, and registration.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle student records responsibly.
  • Ensure compliance with college policies, as well as state and federal regulations regarding student records.

Recruitment & Conversions – Implement targeted strategic recruitment enrollment goals by actively engaging prospective students, conducting outreach activities, and providing information on programs and admission processes to support college growth.

  • Participate in recruitment events.
  • Build relationships with high schools and community organizations.
  • Manage communications plans to inform potential students about admissions, programs, and campus life.
  • Assist prospective students in the admission process, including application forms, transcript submission, and deadlines.

Stakeholder Relationships – Foster strong relationships with high schools, Pathway Coordinators, and faculty by facilitating communication, providing guidance, and collaborating on initiatives to support student transition and success.

  • Targeted Student Support :
    Collaborate with Academic Affairs (i.e., Pathway Coordinators, and Program Directors) to identify students in need of intervention, leading to targeted efforts that improve student engagement and support.
  • Initiative Participation :
    Actively participate in division and campus initiatives, fostering a culture of collaboration and enhancing community involvement across the college.
  • Event Involvement :
    Support college events focused on recruitment, admissions, registration, retention, and graduation, contributing to increased participation and positive outcomes for students.
  • Professional Representation :
    Represent the college at on- and off-campus events, enhancing the institution's visibility and reputation within the community.
  • Effective Collaboration :
    Engage in Pathway and Advisory Board meetings, promoting communication and collaboration that strengthen program effectiveness and alignment with student needs.

Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional needs.

  • Understanding of higher education theory and foundations.
