The Classroom Teacher position at Prairie Wind Elementary School supports the instructional process by supervising students, developing lesson plans, delivering instruction, and collaborating with staff and families.
Essential Functions- Administers subject‑specific assessments to evaluate student competency levels and develop individual learning plans.
- Advises parents and legal guardians of student progress, providing expectations and improvement methods.
- Assesses student progress toward objectives, expectations, and goals, providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborates with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve overall student outcomes and support the school improvement plan.
- Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to provide an effective classroom program.
- Instructs students, demonstrating, illustrating, defining, explaining, directing, preparing, comparing, differentiating, motivating, guiding, and facilitating to improve academic success.
- Maintains district equipment, ensuring availability and safety, and reports defects for repair.
- Manages student behavior to provide a safe learning environment.
- Monitors students in various settings for safety and positivity.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars to acquire or share information.
- Prepares documents such as grades, attendance, and anecdotal records for documentation and compliance.
- Stays current on research findings to apply appropriate principles and improve teaching effectiveness.
- Reports incidents such as fights or suspected abuse to protect students and follow policy.
- Responds to inquiries from teachers, parents, and administrators to resolve issues and provide information.
- Utilizes accepted learning principles such as transfer, reinforcement, motivation, and retention to provide excellent instruction.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Skills:
applying assessment instruments; operating office equipment and software; preparing and maintaining accurate records. - Knowledge: algebra/geometry; technical reading; document composition; group facilitation; understanding codes, policies, and regulations; age‑appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; child development stages; behavioral management strategies.
- Abilities: scheduling activities and events; gathering, collating, and classifying data; using job‑related equipment; working with diverse individuals; problem solving with data and equipment; establishing constructive relationships; adapting to changing priorities; maintaining confidentiality; exhibiting tact and patience; working flexible hours.
- Work under limited supervision using standardized methods; lead, guide, and coordinate others; utilize resources from other units.
Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; fine finger dexterity. Requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing in a hazard‑free environment.
Qualifications- Job‑related experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area.
- Wyoming State Department of Education Certificate, endorsement, and highly qualified status.
