Job Title

Schedule: 8 hours/day, Monday‑Friday
Pay: $15.42 per hour, spread over 12 months (Pay Column
E)
Under the direction of a certified teacher, provide support to the instructional program within the assigned classroom by reinforcing curriculum with individual or small groups of students, monitoring student behavior, and providing clerical support. Supports teachers and students in general education, Title 1, ESL, and Gifted and Talented programs/classrooms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist students individually or in small groups to introduce and reinforce learning concepts, curriculum, assignments, and lesson plans. Adapt and administer classroom activities, assignments, and assessments. Model conversations, manners, active listening, organizational skills, problem‑solving strategies, and everyday interactions to demonstrate appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner. Frequency:
Daily; % of Time: 60% - Monitor and supervise students in various settings (classroom, playground, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc.). Implement discipline levels in accordance with district and building policies to ensure a safe and positive learning environment. Frequency:
Daily; % of Time: 10% - Assist with making copies and organizing classroom materials, equipment, and work areas to maximize student learning and maintain a safe environment. Frequency:
Daily; % of Time: 10% - Collaborate with the certified teacher to evaluate student progress and recordkeeping. Provide verbal or written feedback and report observations and incidents related to specific students. Maintain manual and electronic files and records as required. Frequency:
Daily; % of Time: 10% - Assist other personnel as needed (enrolling students, maintaining records, assisting teachers, filing paperwork, organizing rooms, duplicating, laminating, correcting papers, etc.). Frequency:
Weekly; % of Time: 2% - Respond to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, fights). Resolve immediate safety concerns or direct to appropriate personnel. Frequency:
Weekly; % of Time: 2% - Attend meetings and in‑service training as required. Frequency:
Weekly; % of Time: 2% - Perform other duties as assigned. Frequency:
Ongoing; % of Time: 4%
- High school diploma or equivalent
- No experience required
- Experience working with school‑age children preferred
- Criminal background check required for hire
- First Aid certification preferred
- English language skills
- Oral and written communication skills
- Interpersonal relations skills
- Basic math skills
- Bilingual language skills preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Ability and willingness to work effectively and compassionately with students of all ability levels
- Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance expectations and to follow district procedures for absence reporting
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Trustees policies, district policies, and building and department procedures
- Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
- Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals (required within 2 months after hire)
- Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment (telephones, copier, fax machine, etc.) (required within 2 months after hire)
- Operating knowledge of and experience with office productivity programs (Microsoft Office Suite, e‑mail, etc.) (preferred)

- Responsible for supervising the behavior and well‑being of students in the classroom, on recess, on field trips, etc.
