Position: FLIGHT ENGINEER SIMULATOR INSTRUCTOR

C-130H Flight Engineer Simulator Instructor

DRG is looking for a part-time C-130H Flight Engineer Simulator Instructor.

The Flight Engineer is responsible for the accomplishment of ground-based training of Air Force C-130H ATS Flight Engineers and Maintenance Engine Run Technicians. This position instructs and measures training progress of Air Force Flight Engineer/Maintenance Engine Run students enrolled in the established training curriculum.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts Flight Engineer training using the classroom, training systems, and devices such as Computer Based Training (CBT), Weapon System Trainer (WST), Cockpit Procedures Trainer (CPT).
  • Evaluates, diagnoses, critiques student performance, identifies learning difficulties, recognizes objectives not accomplished and prescribes remedial instruction. Documents training records in sufficient detail to determine objectives met and pertinent information characterizing student progress.
  • Operates Student Management System. Interfaces with students and provides on-the-spot remediation or determines other course of action.
  • Extracts student data, analyzes results, and prepares for student review sessions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews assigned CBT lessons and classroom lesson plans to include suggested changes and Quality Assurance of lessons and lesson plans when changes are made.
  • Maintains a high standard of instructional proficiency and knowledge of methodology of instruction and serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for students and other personnel as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Thoroughly proficient in evaluating, diagnosing, and critiquing student performance; identifying learning difficulties; recognizing objectives not accomplished; and prescribing and conducting remedial instruction.
  • Capable of identifying and resolving course/lesson deficiencies.
  • Will have 8 years flying experience, 5 years military flying experience with at least two years or 200 hours experience as an in-flight instructor in the MDS and associated mission sets.
  • Must have MDS Instructor experience within 5 years of hiring date.
  • Will have completed a formal instructor training course and have the appropriate security clearances (minimum of SECRET) for the operations and maintenance of the system.
  • Must understand, speak, read and write English for effective communication with crew members.
  • Must have a minimum of 200 flying hours as a C-130 instructor/flight examiner.
  • Associate's degree or higher from a regionally accredited school.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

  • Ability to pass an annual Flight Engineer procedures exam (all instructors).
  • Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to clearly relay information, both verbally and written to others.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers.
  • Ability to obtain SECRET Security Clearance.

Working Environment/Physical Situation:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; to sit, stand or walk; and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; and stoop or kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to extremely loud.
  • The employee must be able to ascend/descend C-130H entrance/emergency exit ladders. Employee must be able to ascend/descend device briefing rooms and WSTs and be able to exit WST by way of rope escape ladder.
