Hours:

7.5 hours/day, Monday‑Friday
Pay: $15.42 per hour (spread over 12 months)

SUMMARY
:
Under the direction of a certified teacher, provide support to the instructional program within the assigned classroom by reinforcing curriculum with individual and/or small groups of students, monitoring student behavior, and providing clerical support to teacher(s) and staff. Supports teachers and students within general education, Pre‑K, Title 1, ESL, and/or Gifted and Talented programs/classrooms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist students individually or in small groups to introduce and reinforce learning concepts, curriculum, assignments, and lesson plans. Adapt and administer classroom activities, assignments, and assessments. Model conversations, manners, active listening, organizational skills, problem‑solving strategies, and everyday interaction to demonstrate appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner. (Frequency: Daily, 60%)
  • Monitor and supervise students in classroom, playground, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc. Implement discipline per district and building policies to ensure a safe learning environment. (Frequency: Daily, 10%)
  • Assist in making copies and maintaining classroom materials, equipment, and work areas to provide a safe learning environment and meet mandated requirements. (Frequency: Daily, 10%)
  • Confere with certified teacher to assist in evaluating student progress, success, and record‑keeping; provide verbal and written feedback; maintain manual and electronic files. (Frequency: Daily, 10%)
  • Assist other personnel with enrolling students, maintaining records, filing paperwork, organizing rooms, duplicating, laminating, correcting papers, etc. (Frequency: Weekly, 2%)
  • Respond to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, fights) for resolving immediate safety concerns. (Frequency: Weekly, 2%)
  • Attend meetings and in‑service training as required. (Frequency: Weekly, 2%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned. (Frequency: Ongoing, 4%)
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No experience required.
  • Experience working with school‑age children preferred.
LICENSURES, REGISTRATIONS, OR CERTIFICATIONS
  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • First Aid certification preferred.

  • English language skills.

  • Bilingual language skills preferred.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE
  • Operating knowledge of personal computers and peripherals (required within 2 months after hire).
  • Operating knowledge of typical office equipment (phones, copier, fax, etc.) (required within 2 months after hire).
  • Operating knowledge of office productivity programs (Microsoft Office, e‑mail, etc.) preferred.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS & DIRECTION / GUIDANCE

Reports to:

Certified Teacher and Principal. No supervisory responsibilities. Responsible for supervising the behavior and well‑being of students in class, on bus, on recess, and on field trips.
