SUMMARY – Provide support to instructional programs within assigned classrooms, assist certified teachers, supervise and document student behavior in the ISS program during non‑classroom time, and provide information to teachers and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must fulfill the following functions: reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

  • Administers classroom assignments, tests, homework, make‑up work, etc.; assists students individually or in small groups to practice and reinforce learning concepts; supplies materials; monitors and supervises students in various settings to maintain a safe environment. (30%)
  • Documents student attendance and behavior in ISS; provides verbal or written feedback to inform teachers and administrators; reports incidents (e.g., accidents, fights, inappropriate behavior, safety conditions, child abuse). (15%)
  • Supports classroom teachers and school personnel in implementing curriculum, teaching methodologies, and behavior plans; collaborates with teachers to evaluate student progress. (10%)
  • Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and records to ensure availability and safety. (5%)
  • Assists with record keeping, correcting papers, filing, and copying materials. (5%)
  • Models conversations, manners, active listening, organizational skills, and everyday interactions to demonstrate appropriate social behavior. (10%)
  • Responds to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, fights) to resolve safety concerns or direct to appropriate personnel. (5%)
  • Implements various levels of discipline per district and building policies to ensure a safe and positive environment. (10%)
  • Attends meetings and in‑service presentations to acquire and share information relevant to job functions. (5%)
  • Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)

    EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • No experience required
    • Experience working with school‑age children preferred
    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Criminal background check required for hire.
    • First Aid certification preferred.
    TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES
    • English language skills
    • Interpersonal relations skills
    • Oral and written communication skills
    • Bilingual language skills preferred
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job

    MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE
    • Personal computer and peripheral operation – required within 2 months after hire.
    • Office equipment operation (telephone, copier, fax machine, etc.) – required within 2 months.
    • Office productivity programs (Microsoft Office, e‑mail, etc.) – preferred.
    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS & DIRECTION/GUIDANCE

    POSITION TITLE:

    Reports to:

    Principal

    No supervisory responsibilities.

    • Responsible for supervising the behavior and well‑being of students in classroom, bus, recess, field trips, etc.
    BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITY
    • None required.
