WhatYou’ll Do
As a Special Education Teacher at New Boces, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the instructional process and fostering student success. Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a case manager for assigned students, scheduling IEP meetings, and completing necessary documentation.
- Adapting classroom work to meet individualized learning plans and IEP goals.
- Administering developmental testing and assessments to evaluate student competency and develop learning plans.
- Collaborating with teachers, staff, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes.
- Planning and leading outings and field trips to promote community awareness and real-world learning.
- Guiding students in achieving IEP goals, including academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
- Managing and documenting student behavior to maintain a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Preparing reports, grades, and attendance records to track and communicate student progress.
- Responding to emergencies and ensuring student safety at all times.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need the following qualifications and skills:
- Current and valid PTSB Certification
- Current and valid Special Education Endorsement
- Current and valid Elementary Education Endorsement
- At least 1 year of experience working in a similar role.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.
