Career Navigator Specialist

The Career Navigator Specialist is a part-time, non-benefited role that will work as support to the Community Education Coordinator in providing support and wrap around services directly to Adult Education students in Cheyenne and Laramie. They will assist students as they transition into further training (if applicable), and ultimately into the workforce by assisting students in making connections to local employers or training providers, completing needed paperwork for training program entry, scholarship/financial aid assistance and certification attainment.

Additionally, the Career Navigator will help reduce barriers that limit workforce mobility by assisting students with access to supportive services such as transportation, childcare, financial aid, and career coaching.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This position is non-exempt and is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. Position may include one or more of the following duties, or others as assigned:

Support the Community Education Coordinator, Assistant Director of Community Education and Adult Education faculty with student intake, assessment, and onboarding processes to help ensure Adult Education students enter the program with a clear understanding of expectations, available resources, and next steps.

• Conduct student intakes, facilitate TABE testing, administer career interest assessments, and assist with goal setting with established timelines.
• Post-secondary transitions connections with local employers and assisting students as they execute their career plans aligned to their skills levels and career interests.
• Provide support and assistance to students in making appointments and completing paperwork for needed support and resources. (e.g. childcare support, transportation, etc.).

Work collaboratively with the Community Education Coordinator, faculty and staff to assist students throughout the program as they explore career pathways, and enroll in concurrent education or credential programs that support advancement.

• Assist with career pathway exploration activities and support the ongoing documentation and updating of student career plans at key program milestones.
• Provide support to students as they enroll in concurrent workforce training programs, industry credential opportunities, postsecondary education, or work-based learning experiences.

Support students in successfully transitioning to employment, post-secondary education, or advanced training by providing job placement assistance, connection to employers, and continued pathway guidance.

• Assist in ensuring students have documented next-step plans for employment, education, training, or career advancement upon program completion.
• Provide support with job placement activities, employer connections, and referrals to post-program education and training opportunities as directed by the Director of Community Education.

Other responsibilities may be assigned based on contemporary institutional needs.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

• Frequently move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
• Engage in multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing and carrying of objects
