This position is responsible for operating multiple Veolia contracted client water and wastewater facilities. The primary purpose is to cover vacations & absences at existing facilities, assist in the training and development of local operations teams, and serve in a support role at new account start-ups. The role includes overseeing overall operation and maintenance of accounts, process changes for compliance, troubleshooting, routine, reactive, and preventive maintenance, sampling, laboratory testing, and writing daily shift reports.

The position also involves developing training resources for general water and wastewater industry knowledge and site-specific treatment training for technicians, requiring significant travel including occasional extended periods away from home.

• Maintain complete operational coverage of the Veolia operated facilities in the designated region during vacations and unplanned absences, covering day and night shifts as needed.
• Assist in the operational development of technicians, providing in-person hands-on training visits, developing electronic training materials, and directing individual training efforts.
• Ensure industry standards and best practices are used at all Veolia operated facilities, including record-keeping, lab testing, operational practices, and preventive maintenance.
• Support new account start-up projects in collaboration with the Senior Wastewater Operational Technician team.
• Provide knowledgeable support to local technicians, troubleshoot process issues, and drive proactive decision-making.
• Operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate water flow to the wastewater treatment plant.
• Collect and test wastewater samples at the required frequency.
• Maintain accurate record-keeping of client data such as chemical residuals, water turbidity, and pressure.
• Comply with all Veolia and client safety parameters and programs.
• Analyze lab data, implement process changes to prevent non-compliance, and compile data for regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate with other operators to maintain plant equipment.
• Consult with client and Veolia management to determine optimal treatment strategies.

• Coordinate with clients to schedule third-party maintenance for projects outside Veolia’s scope.
• Complete all preventive maintenance tasks defined by Veolia and client management, documenting all activities.
• Assist in completing minor maintenance projects such as pump repairs, pipe installations, and valve replacements.
• Assist in completing intermediate maintenance projects such as mechanical seal replacement, impeller changes, line replacements, and pump replacements.

• Provide willingness and availability to work with fellow operators on off-shifts when problems arise.
• Ensure 24/7 availability to wastewater operators and client management.
• Communicate frequently with the Veolia Account Manager regarding operations, compliance, maintenance, and personnel issues.
• Provide supervision and leadership to team members, exemplifying hard work and fair treatment.
• Direct the team on daily operations and maintenance, including process changes and chemical feed rates.
• Provide training and facilitate operator training for all facets of plant operation and management.
