Project OverviewThe rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S. The Cheyenne CCGT project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development, leading to the start of full EPC delivery next year.
Job SummaryIn this role, you will support a project by performing technical or commercial logistics work. You will be responsible for domestic and international multi‑leg shipments, ensuring safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet project requirements. You will assist the project logistics lead with shipment tracking, performance metrics, audits, and logistics studies to ensure project requirements are met.
Major Responsibilities- In coordination with the Supply Chain Manager, act in accordance with the Materials Management Plan, report changes, resolve deviations, and obtain approval during execution.
- Ensure adherence to the Material Responsibility Matrix by all responsible parties.
- Identify early which surplus or unneeded materials should be returned to storage.
- Utilize an Oracle‑based Material Management Software integrated into the Digital Supply Chain System (OTR, Site Sense, ETA, etc.) to schedule deliveries, receive material/equipment, issue UOS&D’s, complete reporting, and track deliveries to site.
- Where necessary, participate in preparation of project‑specific desktop instructions for functional groups regarding automation interfaces on material transfers.
- Ensure the material identification methodology permits accurate status tracking and distribution of materials according to priority and sequence of construction activities.
- Participate in Construction, Project, and/or Vendor/(Sub) Contractor planning meetings to stay aware of changes in installation plans and priorities.
- Implement the planned construction activities and work packaging structure through coordination with Field Engineering, Construction, (Sub) Contractors, and Project Controls.
- Implement inventory control mechanisms using the Bechtel Procurement System (DSC) tools to ensure construction material requirements are met.
- Coordinate material availability to support design revisions, rework, contingency, or work‑around plans.
- Coordinate with personnel for materials to be issued directly to the installation area, rather than being controlled in storage.
- Oversee offload crews and provide instruction on receiving materials/equipment and entering them into Oracle‑based Material Management Software.
- Coordinate with drivers/dispatchers/brokers for scheduling appointments and deliveries.
Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills- Intermediate knowledge of Field Engineering disciplines, work processes, and the deliverables produced.
- Intermediate knowledge of requisition entry, receipt, storage, and issue of materials into procurement software.
- Experience scheduling deliveries through OTR (or similar automation tool) and managing logistics for all site deliveries.
- Knowledge of vendors, fabricators, contractors, customers, and how external data systems interact with procurement automation tools; familiarity with Bechtel’s DSCS preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience with work packaging, pre‑buy methodology, and materials status reporting.
- Basic skill in working with and communicating effectively with supervisors of other project functional groups, primarily subcontractors/vendors, engineering, construction, and project management.
