The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling demand for data centers. The Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S., which will lead to full EPC delivery this year.
Job SummaryThe Civil Field Engineer will provide technical assistance, direction, and support to Bechtel and subcontractor field supervision for construction and installation activities for all disciplines associated with specified area equipment and materials.
Major Responsibilities Work Planning & Packaging- Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
- Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
- Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
- Ensures zero‑accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others.
- Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
- Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or another relevant technical discipline from an accredited university and a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant work experience, or 9-12 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Prior experience in placement of structural concrete and knowledge of the associated codes (i.e. ACI).
- Prior experience on projects under the jurisdiction of North American Building Trades (union) direct‑hire craft is desirable.
- Experience implementing and utilizing Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures.
- Experience with Bechtel BSAP systems.
- Displays effective communication skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Excellent problem‑solving ability.
- Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require extensive walking in and around a construction site.
