The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development, which would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.
Job SummaryIn this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job‑site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.
MajorResponsibilities Leadership / Supervision
- Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
- Schedules work to be performed and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
- Determines workforce requirements.
- Coordinates established area operational plans.
- Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.
- Oversees the preparation of Field Material Requisition s for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.
- Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
- Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Oversees engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
- Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8‑10 years of relevant experience or 12‑14 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
- Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes.
- Ability to implement and manage a lock‑out tag‑out (LOTO) plan. Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
- Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs). Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE.
- Knowledge related to the installation of underground direct‑bury cable installation, above‑ground cable and equipment installation, all required terminations, and all subsequent testing procedures and requirements.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
- Demonstrated leadership in a team‑based environment. Knowledge of the use of subcontracts, and the contractor and subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
- Experience working with, supervising and administering subcontractors and/or Direct Hire workforce.
