The Commissioning Specialist is responsible for executing hands-on commissioning activities during the construction, startup, testing, and turnover of mission-critical data center systems. This role works directly in the field alongside construction teams, equipment vendors, commissioning managers, and client representatives to verify that electrical, mechanical, and control systems are installed, tested, and operating in accordance with project requirements and design intent.
The ideal candidate has practical experience performing pre-functional inspections, startup activities, integrated systems testing, troubleshooting, and documentation management in large-scale data center, industrial, or mission-critical environments. Currently have openings in the following locations:

Key Responsibilities
Field Commissioning Activities
- Perform site-based commissioning inspections and testing activities.
- Execute pre-functional checklists (PFCs) for critical infrastructure systems.
- Support equipment startup and commissioning for:
- Medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems
- Switchgear and distribution equipment
- UPS systems
- Generators and fuel systems
- Automatic transfer switches (ATS)
- Power monitoring systems
- Chillers, cooling towers, and HVAC systems
- CRAH/CRAC units
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
- Verify installations comply with design drawings, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
Testing & Validation
- Execute functional performance testing (FPT).
- Assist with Integrated Systems Testing (IST) for mission-critical facilities.
- Record test results and identify deficiencies.
- Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate corrective actions with contractors and vendors.
- Verify resolution of commissioning deficiencies.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain commissioning logs and testing records.
- Complete field reports and daily commissioning updates.
- Track deficiencies through closure.
- Review vendor startup reports and test documentation.
- Assist in developing commissioning procedures and test scripts.
- Support preparation of turnover packages and final client documentation.
Coordination
- Work closely with:
- General contractor teams
- Electrical and mechanical subcontractors
- Equipment manufacturers
- Quality control personnel
- Safety teams
- Client representatives
- Participate in commissioning meetings and site walks.
- Coordinate testing schedules with construction activities.
Safety
- Comply with all project safety requirements and site-specific procedures.
- Participate in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews and pre-task planning.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions.
- Support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Energized Electrical Work Permit processes where applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma, technical school certificate, or associate degree in engineering technology, electrical systems, mechanical systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of commissioning, startup, testing, operations, or construction experience.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and single-line diagrams.
- Experience working on mission-critical facilities, industrial plants, utility infrastructure, or data centers.
- Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Procore
