GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Do you enjoy working with details and making sure everything adds up? Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is looking for a motivated Quality Assurance Analyst to join our team!

In this role, you’ll help review and approve expenses, reconcile financial records across different systems, and act as the go-to fiscal contact for our quality assurance and support team. You’ll also help keep things running smoothly by supporting payroll processing.

You’ll work alongside accounting staff by offering guidance, sharing what you know, and helping troubleshoot system issues. Along the way, you’ll support leadership with data, special projects, and insights that help inform good decision-making—all while making sure fiscal policies and procedures are followed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Apply your knowledge of state and federal accounting principles and grant rules to support accurate and compliant financial operations.
  • Review and approve expenditures in our accounting systems, ensuring spending is accurate, timely, and allowable.
  • Train new and existing fiscal staff and coordinate the payment entry process performed by accountants.
  • Serve as the post-audit lead, verifying that transactions meet budget rules and are backed by proper documentation.
  • Reconcile records and data processing using our accounting systems to ensure payments, obligations, and codes are correct.
  • Serve as the payroll specialist for the fiscal team responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of payroll data.
  • Perform special requests; prepare reports and complete assignments with direct accountability to the Quality Assurance and support Manager.
  • Share your expertise by troubleshooting issues in WOLFS (Wyoming Online Financial System) and CMS, and providing training to team members.
  • Support leadership with special projects, research, and data analysis that drive decision-making.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of federal regulations related to grants/programs at the state and federal levels
  • Knowledge of the maintenance of accounts, including fund accounts, and in balancing the accounts to the different systems involved
  • Knowledge of computer-based applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Knowledge of general accounting and fiscal management principles
  • Knowledge of procedures for fiscal control and proper documentation
  • Skills in effective oral and written communication
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as an effective member of the Department s Fiscal team
  • Ability to make decisions using information from different sources
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience Substitution: 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accountant

Education: Bachelor s Degree (typically in Finance)

Experience: 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accountant
