This position works closely with the Accounting Manager to support the accuracy of revenues and expenditures, financial reporting, data analysis, and the review and approval of WOLFS documents processed. The ideal candidate enjoys problem-solving, collaborating with others, and helping ensure financial processes run smoothly and efficiently. Essential Functions- Reviews payments submitted by accounting staff to help ensure budget coding, allocations, and object/sub-object classification are accurate. Assists staff with corrections as needed and helps ensure payments are processed in a timely manner.
- Serves as a primary resource for accounting staff by responding to questions, providing guidance on fiscal processes and procedures, and supporting day-to-day communication.
- Provides training and support to new and existing fiscal staff and assists in coordinating the payment entry process completed by accounting staff.
- Maintains accurate financial data within specialized accounting systems and WOLFS. Completes monthly reconciliations between WOLFS and specialized accounting systems and makes corrections when necessary.
- Assists with budget and expenditure analysis as needed.
- Supports p‑card processing and daily payment approval/vouchers by preparing spreadsheets, assisting accountants, and serving as a backup support resource for contract encumbrance processes.
- Assists with special projects, research, data collection, compilation, and analysis as requested by the accounting manager.
- Knowledge of federal regulations related to grants/programs at the State and Federal levels.
- Working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing daily responsibilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of the department's fiscal team.
- Experience with WOLFS is preferred, but not required.
Education & Experience Substitution:
- 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accountant.
OR
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance).
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Accountant.
