Controller – Finance

Position:
As a Controller with the BCBSWY Finance team, you will be critical in providing positive leadership and oversight of a 6+ person team across accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), payroll, and third‑party administrator management. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the Controller will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial reports to internal and external parties.

The incumbent will have and maintain contemporary knowledge for a strong accounting background in both GAAP and statutory accounting and invest in ongoing professional development to achieve excellence in operational finance execution, budget oversight, and the ability to connect finance insights to real‑world business drivers.

Accountabilities
  • Develop effective strategies, stay on top of regulatory changes, and provide relevant information to senior leadership for sound decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide the best possible outcomes while balancing costs and risks associated with the insurance industry.
Qualifications
  • Earned bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field (graduate degree preferred).
  • CPA.
  • 8 years of progressively responsible professional management experience in finance, with expertise in accounting, budgeting, operational finance, and FP&A required.
  • Strong accounting background in both GAAP and statutory accounting.
  • Ability to invest in ongoing professional development.
Requirements

Must reside in Wyoming or have intent to become a Wyoming resident. Positions are based in Wyoming.
