DIRECTOR, MEDICARE FINANCE

In the BCBSWY Director of Medicare Finance role, you will maintain contemporary knowledge of both GAAP and statutory accounting, invest in ongoing professional development, and execute operational finance, budget oversight, and finance strategy to support business drivers. Key accountabilities include developing effective strategies, staying abreast of regulatory changes, providing relevant information to senior leadership for sound decision‑making, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to balance costs and risks associated with the insurance industry.

• Develop and implement financial strategies and programs aligned with the organization’s goals.
• Maintain up‑to‑date expertise in GAAP and statutory accounting and apply it to Medicare finance operations.
• Conduct budget oversight, operational finance analysis, and FP&A to support senior leadership decisions.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance across all Medicare finance functions.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to optimize outcomes and manage costs and risks.
• Provide timely, actionable financial insights to inform strategic planning and business decisions.
• Serve as a “Brand Ambassador” within the local community and maintain a strong presence in the region.

• Earned bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (graduate degree preferred).
• 10+ years of progressively responsible finance experience with expertise in accounting, budgeting, operational finance, and FP&A.
• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience; CPA strongly recommended.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work on-site with flexibility for in‑state work‑from‑home, as required.
• Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, moderate in‑state travel, and some overnight travel.
• Strong analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, time‑management, and prioritization capabilities.
