The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Driver Services Specialist for our Driver Compliance section in Cheyenne. This position positively affects public safety on our roads and highways by completing driving records, reviewing hearing/record requests, issuing probationary licenses, and ensuring safe drivers are licensed by reviewing medical, vision, re‑exam evaluations.

Essential Functions- Review and evaluate medical, vision and disabled placard documents to determine appropriate actions.
- Review and schedule re‑examinations to evaluate driving abilities.
- Review documents for record reviews to determine eligibility for limited driving privileges, prepare legal files for Administrative Hearings and issue probationary licenses.
- Review and analyze audit reports to maintain accuracy and driving records.
- Review and process driving record requests.
- Review implied consents and DWUI documents to determine appropriate actions.
- Collect, balance and transmit all transactions received.
- Answer questions from the public, courts, attorneys, law enforcement and other DMVs via phone, email and mail.
- Maintain confidential Personal Identifying information.
- Draft correspondence to clients.
- Scan and index documents into document storage system.
- Assist in all Driver Services areas as needed, including training.
Preference will be given for intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive, Google Calendar and a database.
Knowledge- Knowledge of Wyoming State Statutes and Rules and Regulations for specialized areas.
- Knowledge of department rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of personnel rules.
- Knowledge of medical, physical, visual, mental and alcohol conditions as they pertain to driving.
- Knowledge of the types of licenses to be issued relative to the weight of the vehicle.
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Skills in excellent customer service.
- Skill in effective interpersonal, oral and written communications.
- Skill in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Suite.
- Skill in decision making.
- Skill in keyboarding with proficiency and report writing.
Education: Associate's Degree (typically in Business)
Experience: 0–1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Business)

Education & Experience Substitution: 1–3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business)

- If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period, they would be required to pay the bonus back.
