Position Title – 1. Systems Programmer, 2. ADABAS Database Administrator
Location – Cheyenne, Wyoming
Contract Period:
July 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025 with an optional extension of 6 months available at the agreement of both parties.
The Systems Programmer is full-time, 40 hours per week. It is important to note that a System Programmer in the Mainframe vernacular is significantly different than an Application Programmer. A Mainframe System Programmer is responsible for the analysis, development, modification, installation, testing and maintenance of operating systems software. They modify and debug vendor-supplied utilities and packages. They may also diagnose, isolate and debug software problems and perform problem resolution.
System Programmers monitor system capacity and performance, plan and execute disaster recovery procedures and provide Tier 2 technical support. They are responsible for Z/OS operation, Z/OS support including problem analysis and resolution. This Systems Programmer will also be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and operating the BMC Control-M scheduler software on the system. This person will also be responsible for maintaining and working with other third-party software installed in the system environment, such as VTAM-SWITCH and other installed supporting ISV software.
Database Administrator
The ADABAS Database Administrator is quarter-time, 10 hours per week. An ADABAS database administrator is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and tuning on the database subsystems the mainframe. They need to know the database utilities and third-party products. They must ensure the environment is properly backed up, apply ongoing maintenance, apply emergency fixes, and support Disaster Recovery exercises.
Note:
1. Above positions will support the Wyoming Department of Transportation's RIS driver services program, both of whom will need to work together on all aspects.
2. Check if candidates have prior experience with Wyoming Department of Transportation's RIS Driver services Program.
3. Only onshore, US based staff with background checks compatible with Wyoming Client are allowed access to the mainframe and RIS system.
