Senior Service Now Developer
Location & term:
Remote, 12 months (2,080 hours). Target start:
November 2025. Team context:
Enterprise Platform Team with admins and platform devs; PMO support; agency product owners/SMEs. Core responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scoped applications—with emphasis on Public Sector Digital Services (PSDS).
- Enhance and support ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, IRM, and SPM modules; implement/optimize HAM Pro and SAM.
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party systems and internal platforms.
- Produce technical documentation (business rules, flows, roles, tables, configuration settings).
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical designs; align to platform standards.
- Lead best practices for configuration, scripting, testing, change management, and Agile/Dev Ops.
- Mentor team members and support knowledge transfer to state staff.
- Adhere to ITIL, security, and compliance standards.
Skills & experience
- Strong Service Now development, scripting, and application architecture; PSDS experience.
- Proven work with HAM Pro/SAM and core ITSM/SPM/ITOM/ITAM features.
- Public-sector/government experience.
- Agile/Scrum delivery and Service Now Dev Ops familiarity.
- Typical experience band cited: 3–5 years of Service Now development (vendor should demonstrate senior-level ownership/leadership on the resume).
Certifications (examples)
- Service Now Certified Application Developer (CAD)
- Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in relevant modules
Outcomes:
- Accelerate digital service delivery (PSDS), improve platform stability/performance, strengthen asset/service management, and transfer knowledge to internal staff.
Reporting & cadence:
- Weekly coordination with the Enterprise Platform Manager/team.
- Monthly status reporting on deliverables, risks/mitigations, issues/solutions.
- Standard time-keeping; monthly invoicing with reconciled hours.
Security, Data, and Governance
- Work may involve data from public to confidential classifications; follow State OCIO information classification policies.
- Align with State security policies/standards; some efforts may require security review prior to issuance.
- Build to ITIL and Service Now best practices for stability, security, and compliance.
Industry Vertical & Environment
- Vertical:
Public sector / State government shared-services environment. - Mission:
Mature a centralized Service Now platform (including PSDS and core modules) to optimize statewide service delivery, build internal capacity, and reduce reliance on third-party implementers.
