Position summary:
Provide overall leadership and direction to the project delivery organization, developing and implementing project management principles for generation capital projects. Oversee capital project implementation activities through effective budgeting and project management and controls principles. Lead engagement in industry forums dedicated to project development with the goal of protecting the interests of the Company and its customers.
Pay Range: $116,500 - $192,400 (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)
Reporting Relationship:
Director of Power Delivery & Generation Engineering Services

Essential Functions:
- Oversight for power delivery project delivery efforts, permitting, project planning, corporate initiatives, business developments, insurance and compliance.
- Evaluate and implement applicable new technological and required regulatory developments that may affect Black Hills Energy Generation. Implement continuous improvement principles into project delivery at Black Hills Corporation.
- Manage development and implementation of project delivery processes, including identification of roles and responsibilities, workflow management, and process improvement.
- Oversee completion of capital projects with an emphasis on completing projects on time and within budget.
- Ensure capital projects are completed safely and identify processes and procedures that will ensure safety of all personnel involved in project implementation.
- Develop and oversee processes that provide field observation and learning for Company personnel as appropriate.
- Directly lead a team of personnel consisting of Project Managers and Coordinators.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work with Director of Power Delivery / Generation Engineering Services to establish business goals and objectives for the project delivery group that complement overall goals and objectives for the Company's power delivery. Communicate, monitor, and review goals and objectives on an ongoing basis to ensure consistency with business unit goals and objectives.
- Work with Generation Engineering Manager to facilitate document control and management of change processes throughout generation fleet.
- Coordinate with Generation Facilities and Planning Engineer on long range project plans and budgeting.
- Assist as needed with regulatory oversight (NERC) and corporate initiatives and groups (CT20/Cyber Security/OET) as well as facility risk reduction efforts and insurance (FM Global) recommendations.
- Participate in industry conferences, workshops, and forums to keep abreast of issues relating to transmission and distribution project implementation.

What Is Required:
- Bachelor's Degree engineering, business, accounting or other relevant area or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 7 years of project management, field operations or other relevant experience, with increasingly progressive leadership and/or management responsibilities.
What Is Desired:
- Knowledge of power delivery and generation systems planning, engineering, and operations with an understanding of recovery mechanisms and regulatory relationship building.
- Knowledge of project management principles and their use in a utility environment.
