Job Summary
The Prime Contracts Manager will support effective administration and management of the prime contract agreement between Customer and Bechtel. The position reports operationally to the Project Manager(s) and functionally to the GBU Manager of Prime Contracts. Duties include implementation of the Prime Contract Management Program, monitoring compliance, and facilitating strategies for managing project commercial matters. The role may start in Reston, VA for approximately six months before relocating to Cheyenne, WY for the duration of the project.
MajorResponsibilities
- Develop and implement the Prime Contract Management Program consistent with the contract and project plan.
- Assess prime contract terms and highlight areas of risk such as ambiguities, conflicts, or deviations.
- Coordinate with project team to address customer-related actions and recommend appropriate variations.
- Participate in meetings, prepare materials, track actions, and manage the prime contract administration working relationship.
- Monitor progress/performance, prepare and manage changes/variations and resolutions.
- Develop tools and processes for contract compliance, reporting, and documentation for the Project Director and Management Team.
- Coordinate delivery of ongoing training on prime contract management principles and resolution of changes and claims.
- Build relationships with customers and stakeholders to resolve complex business issues.
- Communicate verbally and in writing on all commercial matters; draft correspondence, memos, guidance notes, chronologies, narratives, and position papers.
- Assist with the development and capture of contemporaneous records and production of information to substantiate commercial matters.
- Conduct research, analysis, and prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials.
- Level 1:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Quantity Surveying, Law, Engineering, Construction Management, or Cost Engineering and 13–15 years of relevant experience (or 17–19 years of relevant work experience). - Level 2:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the same fields and 15+ years of relevant experience (or 19+ years of relevant work experience).
- Extensive knowledge of commercial/business management functions with progressive responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience managing customer/prime contracts with similar commercial terms and incentivization models (e.g., EPC Contractor, Lump Sum/Fixed Price, Guaranteed Schedule).
- Advanced contributor with a specialized skill set.
